Media Appeals Board
Media Appeals Board is independent body in exercising its functions. It adjudicates appeals of parties that are directly affected by the decision regarding: a. Granting, denying, non-renewal or revocation of broadcasting licenses; b. Imposition or modification of broadcasting license conditions, excluding conditions relating to frequency allocation or other technical criteria; c. The issuance of sanctions; and d. Such other matters as may be provided for in an administrative direction, or regulation. The Media Appeals Board may uphold, modify or rescind any decision of the IMC Council regarding the appeal. Pursuant to the IMC Law, the new MAB was constituted on 6 February 2007. It is now composed of one international member: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Benedek, President of the Board, and two local judges: Judge Anton Nokaj and Judge Avdi Dinaj. In accordance with Article 22 of the IMC Law, two local members of the MAB were designated by the Supreme Court of Kosovo and appointed by the Assembly of Kosovo after public solicitation of nominations by the Council, whereas, the international judge was appointed as the President of the Appeals Board by the Special representative of the Secretary General, based on the recommendations made by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General for Institution building. The new MAB adopted its Rules of Procedures on 7 May 2007. |
